Leave it to Me: Chapter Three: The TrainThe train started moving. Despite my best efforts, my feet slipped out from under me and I flew face-first onto the floor.

A couple kids in the back laughed. Jerks.

I waited until the train was up to speed to stand back up, and when I did, I found myself face to face with some human's belt.

"Pass, please?"

Oh crap.

I reached for my wallet and pulled it out, digging out my train pass. I offered it out to him, and he frowned. Not sure why, I turned and looked around behind me.

Everyone behind me in the car had a purple pass out. Even the giant grizzly bear sleeping in the chair behind me had a purple pass in her hand.

So I painted my whole screen red, filled up my pallette with shades and tones of red, thought about what (RED) is all about, and followed my heart. I saw myself looking at world where children can play without worrying if their life is over before it began, if they're going to have to depend on medicine just to survive. I saw a world where love isn't a death sentence in some places. Maybe the world was never like that, but it was a lot closer before AIDS and we'll get there again.

I just wish more people were participating.

This was great of you. I may not have AIDS, but I have Systemic Lupus Eurythmatosis (SLE), and I have to take medicine to survive as well. I thought this piece was very fitting, and I love the sketchy-styled effect for the background - it adds more anger, to me, at a world long lost at birth.

Thanks. I'm really sorry you have to deal with Lupus... I've heard that disease is a real nightmare even with treatment, and it used to be a much scarier thing to have than it is now.

I've been told for years that I need to be on medication constantly to manage my asthma, but I found the side effects of the medication unacceptable and have been refusing the daily medicine for years. I'm doing ok, but I've always been resentful of this idea that I have to take medicine just to be normal. I can't imagine having to take medicine just to LIVE. My heart goes out to all the people who have more serious chronic illnesses than I do.

Anyway, thanks for the favorite and the comment. I'm glad my work had an effect on someone.

You're quite welcome! Aww, it's alright. I have the potentially fatal type of it (there's about 5 types or so), but I'm alive and making the best of my life.

While I'm here. ^_^ And it seems to be controlled decently. <3

Asthma can be awful to live with! I know of people who endure it. My goodness. x.x;; They thought I had Asthma for years when I was a kid, but it was really anxiety and such. I get bad panic attacks, but it's not Asthma. I just hope your Asthma is under control. <3333

Anyway, I'm glad to hear you're dong ok with the lupus. I hope science figures out all these autoimmune diseases soon. I have a couple minor ones and they're annoying, but yours is actully serious.

It's funny you say about panic attacks and asthma... I have both, but we mistook both of them for heart problems when I was a little girl!

Anyway, thanks. I hope to continue to please.

Aww, thanks. <333 I've got others as well, but Lupus is the biggest concern for me.

Oh my, on top of Asthma?! I panic often to a point where I hyperventilate. So I can't imagine how you can cope... D: <3 Keep up the good work with fighting it! It helps to have good will power with these kinds of conditions.

I don't hyperventilate much with my panic attacks since we figured out what they were. In fact, I'm down to limited symptom attacks most of the time. The problem is, the main symptom I keep is the emotional panic...

I'm very fortunate that my biggest trigger is exercise, so I can keep it under control easy by being lazy. Light, non-strenous exercise seems to help, too, but I've been kinda woefully lacking on that front lately.

I exercise to help keep my joint pain down!! XD I can see why it would make your Asthma act up, though. I panic sometimes while exercising, ugh.

Well, it's so much more powerful than my other triggers that there's a special name for what's wrong with me: athlete's asthma. Funny, I"m no athlete...
